Hello! My name is Brianna (Brie) and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. Let me share a few things about me. I have a BA in Psychology from Kent State University and I received my Masters in Social Work with a Trauma-Informed Care certificate from the Mandel School at Case Western Reserve University. I am trained in Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and Trauma and the Brain. Other training certifications I hold include Affirm and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I began my career as a therapist in the community mental health setting, serving as an Intensive Home-Based Treatment and outpatient therapist with a focus on crisis stabilization, prevention and family systems issues. An empowerment and strengths-based approach are the basis of my collaborative therapeutic foundation. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations providing individual and family psychotherapy to address a wide array of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ issues, self-harm, sexual abuse, teen and young adult transitions and issues, and women’s issues. I believe it is an honor to be a therapist and hold space with people as they move through the messiness of life. Together in healing, you will be guided through evidence-based interventions and mindfulness practices.

As much as I love traveling and spending time in other places, Cleveland is where my heart likes to be the most. I love working and living in this city and enjoy giving back as much as I can. Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood or at our fabulous metro parks with my lovely dog, Moira Rose (yes from Schitt’s Creek)! I enjoy creating and sharing recipes with my family and friends, as well as expanding my ever growing cookbook collection. Painting, Goodreads, plant parenting and kayaking are other hobbies that I have grown to love!

Hello, I’m Leah and I’ve been working at Ebb and Flow since January of 2020. Through my own life experiences, I understand the courage it takes to be vulnerable, which only strengthens my commitment in providing a gentle and safe space for you. I am here to offer you acceptance, understanding, compassion, and lightheartedness if you need it! I offer an individualized approach, utilizing a variety of evidenced based techniques.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, interpersonal relationship struggles and self esteem, but one of my biggest passions is parenthood, whether it’s trying to become one or being in the mess of it! Fertility struggles complicated my journey to becoming a mother. Having dealt with the grief, uncertainty, and loss of control has enabled me to offer a supportive and understanding space for those facing similar challenges. As a parent, I have dealt with the notion of “not feeling like I’m enough” as well as the unrealistic expectations placed on parents which has motivated me to help validate and empower you.

When I am not working I am busy raising my 5 year old son and toddler twins, the absolute greatest joys of my life! I strive to engaged in daily self care which usually involves walking or biking in the Metroparks.

Hello, I’m Aaron Knapp (he/him), and I’m excited to join Ebb & Flow Counseling as a Licensed Professional counselor. I hold a BS in Psychology from The Ohio State University, and I have my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University.

I believe that empathy, understanding, and collaboration form the foundation for an effective therapeutic relationship. I help support and encourage my clients in setting their own goals that are achievable, realistic, and will have the most impact on their lives to help them feel better or get closer to their values. Our work together may integrate elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ultimately, the therapeutic approach used is what best fits each individual client’s needs, strengths, and goals.

I have experience working with depression and anxiety and a particular interest in working with couples, adolescents, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and issues of identity. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe, warm, accepting environment where clients will feel comfortable enough to talk about whatever is on their mind. Therapy is not just a place to address challenges big or small but also a place to come when the car of life just needs a tune-up.

In my free time, I enjoy going to the theater, singing loud enough to give the neighbors a free concert, walking around the Cleveland Museum of Art, trying new restaurants, and going to drag shows and movies.

Thank you for taking this step towards supporting yourself. I look forward to working with you!

Hello! My name is Jessi and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. I graduated from the Master of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy program at Ursuline College in 2012. Throughout my career I have gained experience in both individual and group therapy in the following therapeutic settings: schools, homes, virtual, clinical and hospital settings.

My approach to counseling is eclectic and person centered, I strive to approach others with unconditional positive regard and authenticity. I practice evidence based techniques pulled from the following philosophies: positive psychology, DBT, CBT, ACT, and the belief that engaging in expressive arts can heal us, help us to explore our inner world and generally improve our quality of life. I encourage others to: use art as therapy, to visual journal, to write creatively and to use music to explore their creative practices. I believe the quote “that change is the only constant in life” and I love to support others through these life adjustments no matter how “big” or “small.”

My areas of interest include: life transitions/liminal phases, building self esteem, anxiety, depression, helping others build emotional intelligence, helping parents become emotional coaches to their children, increasing the use of healthy coping skills, disrupting habits that no longer serve us, effective communication, compassion fatigue, and acknowledging that understanding emotions and building mental health is a lifelong process.

My time outside of counseling is best spent with family and friends. I enjoy playing New York Times puzzles, reading, listening to podcasts, doing yoga, meditating, cooking/baking, taking care of my 2 kids and 2 cats, going to restaurants, seeing live music, and making art.

Hi there! My name is Katie and I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker. I graduated from The Ohio State University with my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2018 and since then have worked in virtual, home-based, clinical and hospital settings. I have provided services including individual therapy, family therapy, child therapy and case management.

I am a firm believer that you already have what it takes to heal and live a bright, fulfilling life, and I am here to simply guide you along this journey of self-realization and self-love. I have training in Trauma-Focused and traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where I can assist you in recognizing negative patterns of thinking and behaving while also focusing on past trauma, if necessary. Additionally, I have vast experience working with children and thoroughly enjoy engaging with little ones. We may choose to incorporate mindfulness and self-expression in other ways such as art and journaling during our sessions, too. I am able to walk alongside you through many issues you may be facing, and I have extensive experience working with those facing anxiety, depression, gender identity questions, chronic illness, epilepsy/psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, and major life transitions. I specialize in working with children and school-aged children, adults 18+, and LGBTQ folks. I welcome people from all different backgrounds, races, sexual identities, sexual orientations, faiths, and life experiences.

Whether you have been to therapy before or this is your first time, I commend you for having the courage to reflect and discuss topics that may be difficult for you. It is my belief that the root of a positive therapeutic experience is the development of trust between you and me; therefore, I will always welcome the most authentic version of you in our sessions and will encourage you to be true to yourself and your values. In return, I will bring my authentic self to our sessions, as well. As we build upon this trust, I will allow you to guide our sessions while offering validation, acceptance, humor, and loving confrontation.

When I am not at work, you can likely find me bopping around Cleveland or the country, petting a dog, or hanging with my friends, fiancé or family. I’m also an Aunt, so you will likely catch me FaceTiming or visiting my sweet nieces, Olivia and Ariana in Michigan! My hobbies include drawing and painting, singing, thrifting, and watching movies and TV. Give us a call — I am so excited to work with you!

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn! I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at Ebb & Flow.

I consider it a great privilege to journey alongside other humans as they courageously seek to prioritize their health and wholeness. I utilize a person-centered approach to cultivate a therapeutic space of gentleness, warmth, and compassion where we can work together to achieve your wellness goals. Too often we accept our daily struggles as ‘just part of who we are’ instead of opportunities for growth. Together, we can help shift you out of survival mode and intentionally work toward building a satisfying life. As a DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) therapist, I will customize coping skills to your unique needs to promote increased distress tolerance, emotion regulation, core mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. I also rely heavily on CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) in my clinical practice. I primarily work with teens & young adults and am passionate about providing support during seasons of heavy life transitions.

When I’m not working, you can find me snuggled up at home in my favorite sweatpants with my mini dachshund and baby girl. I love cooking & baking, working on my old house, and walking up the street with my husband to get a latte at our favorite coffee shop.

Hi, I’m Ellen and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and working towards my Art Therapy License at Ebb & Flow Counseling. I have earned my master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College, and I have a BA from Kent State University in Human Development and Family Studies.

As a therapist, I believe my role is to walk alongside you through life’s challenges while guiding you towards your own power and truth. My passion is to help clients to live life fully and authentically. Some of my areas of interest include working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity development. My approach to therapy is client-centered, and I believe that as the client, you are the expert on your own experience, and therapy should be collaborative as we work together to create a plan for your unique goals. Having experienced therapy as a client myself, I understand that it can be intimidating, so I work to create a safe space for you to express yourself with no judgment. As a therapist, I like to use elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness techniques, and psychoeducation, but always strive to use what best fits each unique client. In addition to counseling, I also love to use art therapy. I believe creativity is a conduit for healing and art therapy can encourage emotional release while empowering the client to express themselves. You don’t have to be an artist to experience the benefits of art therapy; in art therapy it is all about the process over the product.

When I’m not at work, you can find me enjoying time with friends and family, reading fantasy books, cuddling with my cat, or creating art. I look forward to meeting you and working with you to reach your goals!

Hi, I’m Aino (Eye-na) Wheler, and I’m thrilled to be at Ebb & Flow Counseling. I recently earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University and I hold a BA from Princeton University. I spent two decades in nonprofits before pursuing counseling as my true career.

Life comes at us fast. Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s scary, sometimes it’s beautiful – and sometimes it’s all of those things all at once. I believe in the power of therapy to help us slow down, take a breath, and find some ease in those moments.

My approach to therapy is client-centered and tailored to the person in front of me. My work integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, while never losing sight of the larger context of our lives. We will work together to set individualized, realistic goals – after all, you are the expert on your own life.

I have experience working with substance use disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, and a particular interest in issues of identity, moments of life transition, and grief and loss of all kinds. I also believe that everyone can benefit from counseling: my goal as your therapist is to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges, both large and small.

When I’m not at work you can find me with my nose in a book, digging in my flower garden, doing enthusiastic but uncoordinated yoga, or snuggling with (in my biased opinion) the best cat ever.

I look forward to working with you!
